Lower School

The Lower School program provides a strong academic foundation in English language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science, enriched by Spanish, art, music, physical education, technology, library, garden, chapel, character education, and community service.

In the primary grades (K – 2), the children are taught to become independent learners. In the elementary grades (3 – 4), the students take greater personal responsibility for their learning as they expand and solidify their foundational skills and knowledge.

Homework Expectations

Beginning in Kindergarten, students receive daily homework in the form of a take-home packet. Homework is designed to reinforce skills and concepts taught in the classroom while fostering the development of independent work habits. In addition to specific assignments, children are encouraged to engage in outside reading on a regular basis.

As students progress through the Lower School, the amount and complexity of homework increases in a developmentally appropriate manner. Assignments are purposeful, manageable, and aligned with grade-level expectations.

Homework also supports the growth of personal responsibility, organization, and time management skills, helping students build a strong foundation for future academic success.
