Gregory Kondos is one of the most prestigious contemporary artists in America. Known as the master of contemporary landscape art, his paintings, drawings and prints are highly collected and widely shown in museums throughout the United States, including Sacramento’s own Crocker Art Museum.

This fabulous art piece, originally painted by Gregory Kondos, is a bon à tirer or B.A.T., meaning “good to pull.” Once artists have completed a graphic from a finished plate, they will ask their printer to pull one perfect graphic, then mark it bon à tirer. Once completed, the printer will compare the graphic in the edition with the B.A.T., and then submit it to the artist for final approval and authentic signature.

Tonight’s winning bidder will receive the “best of the edition.” The edition of eighty one (81) was created by Trillium Graphics in Brisbane, CA in 1999. It is one of the great printing houses on the West Coast. The original 3x4 foot oil on canvas called “River Trees” was sold at the Bonhams & Butterfields Auction in May, 2011 for $52,000.00. This is the last piece owned by the artist.
