Voluntary support of St. Michael’s Episcopal Day School helps to preserve our tradition of academic excellence and ensures a strong financial future for the school. Below is information to help you as you consider your support of the school. Contact a member of the Development and Advancement Department team if you have any questions.
Annual Fund is the cornerstone of our fundraising program, with proceeds supporting operating expenses, including tuition assistance and faculty compensation. By design, the school has a tuition shortfall, thereby giving our families the opportunity to make up that shortfall with a TAX DEDUCTIBLE gift. The goal is to achieve 100% participation in each grade, including our faculty, staff and members of the Board of Trustees.
You can donate or pledge to our Annual Fund using this form or by using the school Paypal account to donate online by clicking this link. Only Annual Fund donations may be made through Paypal. Paypal is given as an option for the convenience of our families, but please keep in mind that the school will be charged a fee if you use Paypal and will not receive the full amount of your donation.

A gift of cash is the most popular way to give. For income tax purposes, you may declare the full amount as a charitable gift deduction. While St. Michael’s prefers unrestricted gifts, we would be happy to discuss your preferred designation to any fund or purpose that supports our program, relieves the operating budget, supports the Strategic Plan, or advances our mission.
Checks are payable to St. Michael’s School and sent to:
St. Michael’s School
2140 Mission Ave.
Carmichael Ca. 95608
Use the memo field to designate the fund to which your gift will be given.
If your employer recognizes the importance of supporting your charitable giving with a matching gift plan, you can double or even triple your gift to St. Michael’s. You may obtain information about the matching gift program from your company’s human resources office.
Matching gift forms can be mailed to St. Michael’s School at 2140 Mission Avenue, Carmichael, California 95608.
Gifts-in-Kind (GIKs) come in the form of equipment, instruments, supplies, etc. They often make a special difference in the classroom, to a team or to a school event. In addition to expressions of gratitude, these non-cash gifts earn tax credit and are receipted for the donor’s tax records. GIKs can have a value (i.e. Mr. and Mrs. Gonzales gave 25 copies of their newly published children’s book to grade 2, valued at $248.75). Once value is provided by the donors, we will send a receipt and an acknowledgement, and we will record the gift at face value. Gifts-in-Kind without value (i.e. Mrs. Smith provided decorations for the upper school dance but lost track of the amount she spent). In this case, we simply will send an acknowledgement and record a GIK without value.
2014-2016 Capital Campaign

Legacy Capital Campaign – The history of building for the future.
Endowment giving provides an income stream that serves a number of donor designated purposes. These funds are invested and a percentage of value is directed to support the school community needs.
The Father Vaughan Endowment for Tuition Assistance
Father Vaughan was the Head of School from 1981 to 2012. Upon his retirement, a fund was established in his name. This is a wonderful vehicle for those alumni and past parents who had the good fortune of knowing his leadership and who can assist in the future of those who follow him.
St. Michael’s Benefit Auction
Held in the spring of each year and hosted by the Parents Club, the auction serves to fund many important needs at school, including our Tuition Assistance Program, which makes it possible for children to attend St. Michael’s who could not otherwise afford to do so.
You may give a home, farm, or other real estate to St. Michael’s. You will receive an immediate income tax deduction based on the full market value of the property – determined by a qualified appraiser – at the time of the gift. You may give a home and retain lifetime occupancy.
St. Michael’s uses a Gift Acceptance Policy to guide the receipt of the gift. Please contact the Advancement Office for more information.
Planned Giving/Memorial Tribute Fund
Planned gifts provide an opportunity for the donor to support the school through a deferred gift. Bequests, trusts, life insurance and retirement funds are several planned gift possibilities. The Memorial and Tribute Fund is a way to honor a loved one who has passed or to pay tribute to someone on their birthday, or for a job well done.
Gifts of Stock
You can make a gift of appreciated stock that you have owned for more than one year. You will receive an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value on the date of transfer. You make a charitable donation and pay no capital gains tax. You must notify our Development or Business Office of the transfer so that we will be properly notified of the transaction and of the designated fund.
This program requires you to register your credit cards and loyalty cards with your favorite merchants, and a percentage of proceeds are directed to St. Michael’s school. This program is run by our Parents Club.
